Nocturne Alchemy is a perfume house located in Northern California that first opened in 2006. They design their fragrances with Egyptian culture in mind and travel the world searching for the finest ingredients. There's an impressive range of general catalog scents along with frequent limited edition releases.
This is a Studio Limited (SL) fragrance that is offered in limited quantities and available until it sells out (it's still in stock here). I've heard great things about Nocturne Alchemy's vanilla blends, so I decided to grab this as a blind buy.
The turn around time was approximately two weeks, and my package arrived with a few days of receiving a shipping notice. Each bottle was individually wrapped in a plastic bag and packaged with bubble wrap and packing peanuts. A free sample vial was included which I'll review in the near future.
West Indian Vanilla - rich aspects of vanilla ice cream essence, an ethereal French vanilla fleck, vanilla buttercream, beautiful on it's own or layered with Crystalline, a touch of Kobalt, a little French vanilla. In the bottle this is a delicate, sweet and buttery French vanilla. Very soft and dreamy, ethereal like the description says. This is very exquisite and just smells expensive. I wonder if there's coconut in here because that's what my nose is picking up sometimes. It's almost tropical and summery. There's an almost boozy quality, but it's subtle yet hypnotizing. On my skin this stayed true to the fragrance in the bottle, a decadent French vanilla with coconut nuances. The sillage was strong, but I can't imagine anyone would find this scent to be offensive or overbearing. As for the wear time...I had to shower after wearing this for five hours, but at that time it smelled just as strong as it did when I first applied it to the back of my wrist. I imagine I can get at least ten hours of wear from this, most likely more.
Final thoughts - I highly recommend this if you're a vanilla lover and even if you aren't, West Indian Vanilla will turn you into one. I don't have any French vanilla fragrances in my collection, so this is a welcome addition. Again, this is available until it sells out, so I recommend grabbing this soon.
