The Bathing Garden Halloween 2016

Disclaimer - all products were purchased by me.

Here's the recent Bathing Garden order to hit the mailbox! These are all included in the two Halloween collections that are currently available on the website. I kept this order small because I already have most of the scents from these collections (click here for my other review), so this post is only going to cover the ones that are either new or new to me.

Haunted Hayride scrub

Cemetery Keys - vanilla tonka bean, lime citrus and sugary sweet white floral. Smells like limes and baby powder. I *think* this may be a dupe for Lush 25:43. It's extremely strong on cold sniff, and I'm stuck with the smell of baby powder in my nose after sniffing it.

Charm & Ruin - lush vanilla citrus swirled with a fruity pomegranate base. This is like a effervescent blood orange with some kind of dark base that doesn't smell like pomegranate. It sort of reminds me of those fizzy chewable vitamin C tablets. This also reminds me of another Bathing Garden scent called Faded Opulence which is available on the website.

Hades & Persephone - citrus, cognac, musk, hints of patchouli and fresh ozone. This is like a festive, holiday blend with a dark and earthy twist. It smells strongly of blood orange, clove  and black jelly beans(?), but I also pick up hints of patchouli. This is very similar to Charm & Ruin but darker and minus the effervescence. It's extremely strong on cold sniff, and I could smell this as soon as I opened the box.

Netherworld Zombie - freshly shoveled graveyard dirt, espresso, lime essential oils, scotch whiskey, and dark chocolate shavings. This one is unique and strangely appealing. Lime and dirt is what I smell with dark chocolate to round it out. It's like the Toxic Earth sugar scrub that is currently available on the website with a drop of zesty lime juice added.

Pumpkin Pie Spice - a dark and spicy pumpkin blend. Cardamom, nutmeg, cinnamon, ginger and fresh creamed pumpkin. A lot of cinnamon and ginger over a subtle base of pumpkin puree. It's not really a foody scent but more spicy. Tons of spice.

Wicked Sweet - salted caramel, hints of spicy chipotle, and sweet candy corn. Yum! Gooey caramel and red pepper. Sweet, salty, smooth and spicy all at once. Story time - I went to Starbucks the other day and now they have a chile mocha. I've had Wicked Sweet on the brain lately because it's so damn good and the chile and caramel sounds intriguing, so I asked the barista if he could create a chile caramel frap. Sadly he couldn't...but he agreed that it sounded good!

I received a bunch of free samples with this order, which is pretty standard for The Bathing Garden. Most of them were scents that I've tried in the past and have reviewed before (Boo-Berry Mansion, A Snow Globe World, Mummy Mademoiselle, Belle Morte, Faded Opulence), so I'm only focusing on the newer stuff. None of these are available for purchase at the moment, but they may come back in the future.

Oh, and I don't have descriptions for these so it's all a wild guess!

Brain and snowflake

Scrub samples

Cardamom Potion - heavy on the cardamom but there's something else that helps smooth this out and tone down the spice. Pumpkin and coconut maybe?

Fantasy Punch - this smells pretty similar to Charm & Ruin minus the dark base. It's a fizzy orange type of blend, like orange soda.

Fluffy Winter Pudding - I'm smelling cherry blossom. Very clean and floral, but with a soapy note.

This little guy was without a label, so I don't know the name. Does anyone else know? It's definitely dark chocolate on the bottom layer (which you can't see in the pic), and the top is creamy like pureed pumpkin. The chocolate smells so realistic that I almost took a nibble of it thinking it was candy.

Final thoughts - theres some really unique scents going on here, like Netherworld Zombie and Wicked Sweet. The only downside to this order is that I found several of these scents to be extremely similar. Fantasy Punch, Charm & Ruin, Hades & Persephone and Faded Opulence are all some variation of a festive, fizzy citrus blend. They're all nice and unique, but I was a little bummed to get four of (practically) the same thing. I prefer Faded Opulence so that's what I'll stick with for future orders. You can find all of these and more at the website here. Theres no mention of when these collections will be coming down, but the winter collection will go live on 10/3.
