A small order this time since I already have most of the scents offered in this collection, but I wanted to grab a few butter bombs for the little one and their new Lily Cakes scent sounded intriguing. Lily is such an under-represented scent in the indie perfume world so I was curious.
Shipping was insanely fast this time. I ordered on Sunday and had everything on Thursday. A free sample of a Who Needs Love perfume oil was included along with a few candies.
Creamy white cake, lily of the valley and exotic white ginger.
A sunny, clean white blend featuring lily as the main note with a little fresh ginger to help brightens things up. It's more floral than foody (in fact, I don't smell the cake at all), and the ginger plays more of a supporting role rather than dominating the entire blend like with their Eudamonia scent. It seems like there is a laundry note as well because this just smells so clean. It didn't morph on my skin aside from the ginger gradually fading. Sillage is strong and lasted around six hours. I keep picking this up and sniffing it throughout the day, and it's quickly become one of my favorite Haus blends ever. If you like their fresh floral blends like Odette and Milkmaid, you'd probably enjoy this one as well.
Who Needs Love
A mahogany box filled with chocolaty orbs, coated in crystallized coffee, filled with a pomegranate and raspberry filling.
I think I reviewed this one before, but I've been using it lately so here's a new review. It starts off as a dark roasted coffee scent that gradually softens, allowing a sweet raspberry jam to come forward. The chocolate doesn't stand out much, but it helps tame the bitterness of the coffee and smooths everything together. The mahogany comes out later, giving a rich, exotic feel without being too overpowering. I remember this one turning sour on my skin a few years ago, but that hasn't happened this time. Sillage is moderate to strong with an eight hour wear time.
Warm sweet beeswax.
A soul-soothing, rich golden scent. Not as sweet as pure honey.
Lavender, Sage and Lemongrass
Bulgarian lavender, sage and fresh lemongrass.
Lemon and a very wet, green grassy note. So...lemongrass!
Milk and Carnations
A blend of soft milk and carnations.
A delicate, warm floral with soft cream notes and no spices. This is a nice spin on the carnation and eggnog blends I've seen.
Bubbly champagne with strawberries and pink grapefruit.
A sparkling citrus blend with lots of fizzy bubbles. Sometimes these champagne scents smell sour but this one is crisp and pleasant. It smells just like Zazz from their summer collection.
Fresh roses and sweet vanilla.
Dewy rose cut straight from the bush over a soft, warm vanilla base. It's more floral than vanilla.
So everything here smells incredible! Lily Cakes is a must have for a fresh spring scent, and I strongly recommend picking it up before it's gone. You can find the entire Valentine's line-up here.
