Epically Epic Soap Co

Disclaimer - all products were purchased by me.

This is a brand I've been meaning to try for a while now because I've heard so many great things about the lip balms. After browsing the website, it turns out that the owner, Allison, also offers a range of B&B products like body butters, soaps and sugar scrubs so I grabbed a little bit of everything.

I saw a Facebook post announcing the new Island Heart collection that was inspired by her recent trip to Cuba. I was stationed in Guantanamo Bay many, many moons ago while in the military so this collection tugged at my heart. We were never able to leave the base and explore the island though, so I'm gonna live vicariously through her creations.

The ordering process went off without a hitch. Her turn around time was listed as 2-3 weeks but I had the package in 10 days. Everything was packaged well with a free lip balm included. I'll start with the scents and then move on to the product reviews.

Anejo 7

Inspired by a finely aged bottle of Havana Club Rum. This has a less boozy scent than the real thing, but I picked out the notes dark vanilla bean, sugar cane and a hint of oak.

If you ever wanted to bathe in rum, now you can. Deliciously boozy coconut and vanilla rum with a nice touch of oak to deepen the whole deal. I imagine this is what Jack Sparrow would smell like.

Guava Pineapple

A perfect island breakfast. Tart guava and pineapple slices with a side of papaya, banana, passion fruit and garnished with a pink rose.

A sweet blend featuring papaya and pineapple as the stand out notes with some hints of floral and musk. I do notice a 'base' smell, although that may be from the oils and butters in the sugar scrub.

Lavender Sugar Cookie
Warm, buttery, fresh baked sugar cookies with a twist of French lavender.

An opening of the prettiest herbal lavender over a drydown of buttery cookies sprinkled with large sugar crystals. I'm making a mental note to try more lavender scents whenever she offers them again. It's a soothing lavender that's somewhat sweet and without that icy, camphorous sting. Dreamy!

Malibu and Pineapple Juice
Delicious, tropical coconut rum and pineapple juice.

"If you like pina coladas..." This one makes me sing the song because that's exactly what this smells like. Deliciously tart and juicy pineapple mixed with rum and coconut cream. I can't believe how real this smells.

Tropical Cola
The flavor of fizzy cola with fresh-squeezed lime and coconut milk.

Like a mix of Coca Cola and Sprite. There's a sharp kick of citrus over syrupy cola. It may sound like a strange combo but it smells so good!

Violet Mallows

This was a free sample that was generously included. I can't find it on the website so there's no official description. It smells like delicate purple petals with hints of fluffy marshmallow. More floral and not too sweet.

Cold Process Soap

Olive oil, coconut oil, organic sustainable palm kernel oil, castor oil, sodium hydroxide, water, rum, fragrance, vanilla bean. $6.00

I love this soap. It lathers up nicely and gives off tons of bubbles, leaving my skin clean without feeling excessively stripped of moisture. It's heavily scented and the fragrance lingered around 20 minutes.

Sugar Scrub

Cane sugar, turbinado sugar, olive oil, coconut oil, castile soap {water, olive oil, glycerin, potassium hydroxide}, shea butter, fragrance, mica color, jojoba beads, vitamin E, Optiphen Plus, grapefruit seed extract. $10.00

An oily type of scrub packed with medium grain sugar crystals and jojoba beads for some extra exfoliation. There's soap added to the formula but this scrub doesn't produce foaming lather (the website says this is to cut through any excessive oils left behind). The sugar is coarse and really scrubs hard, but it gets the job done. That dull, lackluster winter skin now has a nice sheen. It's packed full of butters and oils that feel heavy at first, but once I wash and dry off, my skin feels like I just used a lotion. The scent hangs around for a short while but it's light enough to not interfere with the lotion or perfume I'm using that day.

Whipped Body Butter

Macadamia butter, shea butter, fractionated coconut oil, colloidal oatmeal, jojoba, olive squalane, vitamin E, fragrance. $10.00

Allison isn't playing around when she calls this whipped. It has a spongy appearance from all those little air pockets and the jar is incredibly light weight. The feel is much lighter than most body butters I've tried but the formula is deeply moisturizing, making this something that I can use all year long. It spreads easily and I can take my time massaging it in, leaving behind silky soft skin. The lavender scent is strong but disappears quickly, leaving a faint sugar cookie aroma that hangs around for half an hour.

Lip Balm

Olive butter, olive oil, candelilla wax, carnauba wax, virgin coconut oil, castor oil, olive squalane, vitamin E, shea butter, natural sweetener, flavor. $3.75

This is the product that I was most excited about and it really lives up to the hype! The formula is soft and glides smoothly over my lips with one or two swipes, lasting several hours between applications. Not too oily and not too tacky, which is exactly how I like it. It feels similar to the Haus of Gloi balms if only a tad less slippery. And the scents! That's the best part. These are the most realistic scents I've found in a lip balm and there are so many to choose from. No synthetic notes or heavy oil and butter smell. She also offers tinted balms, which I plan on trying soon. The ones I ordered are colored in the tube but go on clear. These are my new favorites, hands down!

I love everything here and would highly recommend giving the brand a try. The products are high quality and reasonably priced, the turn around time is fast, and the scents are mind blowing. The lip balms and body butter are my favorites that I plan on reordering in the future. Some of these scents and items are sold out but there are tons of products still in stock on her website and Etsy shop.

  1. Nice! I was excited to see this post this morning. A friend gifted me a smoked jasmine sugar scrub from Epically Epic and I loved it. You have me oogling the whipped body butter and all the lavenders now. I am such a sucker for lavender.

Stationed in Guantanamo Bay?! That sounds like an adventure. Did you get to travel much in the military? My friend is trying to make the most of military like with her family by traveling abroad. So far they have lived in Turkey and now in Tokyo. I think they are headed back to the states soon though.

And I loved your description of the rum bar. Anything that smells like Captain Jack is interesting to me. Enjoy your goodies! Thanks for the heads up on the lip balms.

    1. Smoked Jasmine sounds cool! I found your blog post about it and your description has me sold. I hope she brings it back one day.

It was interesting but not much of an adventure. There's only so much you can do on a base that feels like it's a mile wide. They try to keep you entertained though. You can rent boats, snorkel and scuba dive, go to the outdoor movies but that's about all I remember doing. The heat and humidity made it almost unbearable to do anything other than swim. Most people would do an overnight trip to Puerto Rico just to get out and do some shopping at Walmart. I was never stationed on a ship so Cuba was the most "exotic" location I ever saw lol. Japan is supposed to be really nice. Lots of people hope to go there if they are open to going overseas.

    1. YASSS! It sold out so lets hope she brings it back. "But why is the rum gone?"

Your recent Super Tarts review has me adding a few things to my wish list, BTW.
