The very first vendor I ordered from many years ago, Sugar & Spice remains one of my favorite brands. I think of it as a hidden gem in the wax world even though the owner, Shanna, has been around for a long time now. The scent list is extensive and everything is available year-round, which is always nice for when you're craving pumpkin stuff in July. And custom scent blends, she does those too. Occasionally she closes to spend time with family but she's open for most of the year so you can order almost any time you want.
I placed a total of three orders recently and the turn around time was ten business days. All of the cups were neatly stacked in plastic bags to keep the lids secure, and she included some free scents with each order.
Single scent shots are $1.85, 3-packs are $5.55, 4-packs are $7.40, and one pound bakery bags are $17.25. Custom blends are available in all quantities except for single cups.
Philosophy type. Italian bergamot and sparkling lemon are sweetened with freshly picked citron and neroli. A white floral jasmine, orange blossom and rose are blended with sheer musk and cedarwood
Sharp bergamot and clean skin musk with floral nuances in the background. Very fresh and uplifting without being too perfumey. Bergamot is something I try to avoid but this is a nice blend.
Berry Coconut Bundt Cake
Berry bundt cake, coconut cream pie and birthday cake
A sort of sweet but mostly tart raspberry with the slightest hint of coconut cake in the background.
Blackberry Coconut Cream Cake
Blackberry, coconut cream pie and birthday cake
A very tart, almost bitter, blackberry with some floral undertones. There's a strong chemical aroma though that reminds me of cleaning products.
Notes of dried, wind blown leaves, heliotrope, charred woods of pine and cedar, amber, smoky sandalwood and musk with a background containing hints of roasted marshmallow, brown sugar, coconut and soft vanilla
Crunchy, dried leaves and an eery bonfire smoke. I love how mysterious this one is and it's one of my favorite vendor scents ever. It makes a great blender too.
Scentsy type. The scent is an abundance of tart red berries, juicy orange and peach nectar blended with a twist of lime
A red berry and peach blend with accents of citrus and fresh green leaves. Tart, tropical and punchy.
The fresh aroma blend of Sicilian orange, lemongrass, lemon slices, jasmine, green tea and Tahitian vanilla
A sunny blend of orange and lemon with just a touch of lemongrass. This one is yummy and so fresh smelling.
Refreshing combination of fresh greens and pear agave is brought to a new level with the addition of vetiver grass and clean forest moss
Every time I smell this I have to double check that I didn't get this mixed up with the Herbal Essence dupe down below. They're pretty similar being that they're both fresh fruity florals, but this one has soft green notes mixed in. I think I like this one a little more.
A fruitastik blend of creamy vanilla ice cream bursting with sweet bananas, fresh strawberries, and a touch of juicy peach
Banana Laffy Taffy and vanilla mixed with hints of sweet strawberry. Pretty good, although it's more of a candy scent than a real fruit blend.
Herbal Essences type
Clean, fresh and invigorating just like the Herbal Essences shampoo
You already know what this smells like. A clean and sweet fruity-floral with apple topnotes.
Marshmallow Jelly Donut
Marshmallow blended with jelly donut
Sweet raspberry jam and fluffy marshmallows, not much bakery going on here. Love this one and I've repurchased it a few times now.
Orange Caramel Crumble
Rich, yummy caramel blended with a rich, moist orange poundcake with even more caramel crumbles
A glass of orange juice and a slice of yellow cake. Mostly a citrus scent and I'm not picking up on any caramel sweetness.
Fresh and sweet succulent peaches combined with sparkling notes of lime, lemon and orange rinds makes this the perfect party drink
A zesty orange and lime blend, and although I'm not getting peach or margarita from it, it's really good. I've reordered this a few times now.
Peach Strawberry Cream Cake
Peach, strawberry, birthday cake and cream
A tart orange and strawberry blend. Not peachy but I love this one and have ordered it many times.
Raspberry Coconut Cream Cake
Raspberry, coconut cream pie and birthday cake
A very tart raspberry and a curdled, sour cream note. There's a strong chemical smell to this one like with Blackberry Coconut Cream Cake and hopefully that will disappear in the warmer.
Rich roasted Columbian coffee is blended with spices and hints of toasted nuts in this beverage sensation. A base of vanilla butter cream adds tempting sweetness to the blend
Loads of cinnamon mixed with a roasted, bitter coffee. Not a sweet blend at all on cold sniff nor do I smell any snickerdoodle cookie notes, but perhaps that will change in the warmer.
Strawberry Pretzel Dessert
Top secret blend that smells just like the dessert!
Tart strawberries and rich cream with hints of pretzel. There's that cream note again that nearly goes sour. I think this has been reformulated because I don't remember that cream note before; it used to be all strawberry and pretzel.
Vanilla Bean Nectarine
Citrusy nectarine blended with sweet vanilla bean
A peachy orange blend with a thick vanilla base. Like peaches and creamsicles. Fresh, juicy and utterly delightful.
Blend of tropical pina colada, juicy pineapple slices, sweet pear and mandarin orange with a base of anise
Smells like something from BBW. A floral musk blend with coconut to add a tropical vibe. More of a floral (hibiscus?) and musk scent.
Warm Vanilla Nutmeg
A mild creamy bakery nutmeg
Hints of fresh nutmeg but mostly a buttery vanilla. I'm reminded of butter pecan ice cream every time I smell this. This would probably make a nice blender if you want a different vanilla than VBN. Pumpkin and eggnog are blends that I have in mind to mix this with.
These are freebies that Shanna sends along with every order. They're made from leftover wax that she's poured so each one is different and unfortunately there is no description of what went into each one. It's all a guess. There are a lot of these mystery scents because I made three different orders recently. The more you buy, the more freebies you get.
Starting from the top left -
Mystery #1 is a double layer peppermint blend. The top smells like vanilla bean noel, the bottom is peppermint and maybe marshmallow mixed in. Pretty scent.
Mystery #2 is heavy on plumeria but there's something else here. Cotton candy perhaps. It's ok, but I think I'll only be able to tolerate this floral for short periods of time.
Mystery #3 smells like lemon pie or lemon sugar cookies. There's a bakery note mixed in somewhere but it's mostly lemon.
Mystery #4 is a triple layer blend. The bottom is Peach Strawberry Cream Cake, the top and middle smell like a cinnamon laundry blend. It's a unique one for sure.
Mystery #5 is double layered. The top is a Leaves dupe (does that one have cinnamon? It's been a while since I smelled it and I'm getting a lot of spice). The bottom layer is Pumpkin Cinna Vanilla Crunch, a very spicy pumpkin pie filling. Both great scents that I've ordered before.
Mystery #6 is a double layer blend but all I'm smelling is Amazing Grace. A clean bergamot and musk scent.
Mystery #7 is triple layered. Bottom layer is a spicy cinnamon type of blend, maybe Caramel Praline Cinnamon Frosting. Middle layer I can't smell. The top is a lightly spiced pumpkin blend.
Mystery #8 is another triple layer. Sweet banana candies jump out immediately and I'm gonna say that Raspberry Coconut Cream Cake is mixed in. The bottom layer is a tart red berry.
Mystery #9 is a double layered scent. The top is a tart, red berry punch (seriously, what IS that? It's goood) and the bottom smells like laundry blended with something sweet and pink like cotton candy.
A lot of these will be reorders in the future and my top favorites are Vanilla Bean Nectarine, Peach Strawberry Cream Cake, Marshmallow Jelly Donut, and Bonfire Bliss I'll be needing a bag of. There are so many other scents that sound good and I'll place another order once I melt through these.
