Man, this year seems to be flying by. This month has been all about medical appointments and dealing with the healthcare system. My oldest daughter saw a specialist for her bone disease and had some X-rays and MRI's ordered. That was the beginning of the month and at this time, she's only had the MRI done. Well, one MRI. Because after I was told the MRI for both her upper and lower arm had been approved earlier this month, it turns out only one was approved. I feel like a damn ping pong ball being bounced back and forth between the doctors office, imaging center and insurance company. To say it has been frustrating is an understatement.
And the month of May is something I've been dreading. My husband's birthday is coming up, and a week later will be the first anniversary of his passing. An entire year now and it still feels like yesterday that the call came. The grieving process is a funny thing, going back and forth between sadness, anger and denial. Moreso anger at this point. They say the second year is the worst because that's when it finally sinks in. I'm dreading the day when our daughter stops saying 'I miss Daddy' at the most random times throughout the day. She was only 4 years old when she last saw him, and I fear that one day she probably won't remember him.
But we'll get through this. One day at a time. Everything will be OK.
Sorry to be such a negative Nancy guys, I really am. This time of year combined with the craziness of trying to get a few x-rays and MRI's done is giving me more gray hairs lol. But! I made a decent sized dent in my stash with all these empties for the month. Plus I received a new Scentsy warmer that I've been enjoying. This is the Stargazer that debuted in January but it sold out almost immediately and was on backorder. I haven't bought a warmer in years but I had to have this. And the little one loves it. She sets out wax the night before and wakes up excited to turn it on in the morning. It has a good throw, but I did switch out the 20 watt bulb that it came with for a 25 watt bulb.
I have a few orders coming in along with a couple large ones that I plan on making for the month. Orders I'm expecting this month include Rosegirls, Wonderberry bath & body and wax (the wax one has me so excited!), Epically Epic, Candy Panda and Cosmic Cleanse. I'm expecting a Bathing Garden order late this month but I woke up to a shipping notice yesterday morning. It's only been two weeks since I ordered, so I figure this is an error but I'm checking that tracking number for updates every few hours and crossing my fingers. Orders I plan on making include some Brier Path goodies from Haus of Gloi, Lasting Scent Candles customer favorites and Moonalisa's spring/summer opening. And then there's Solstice Scents next week. My favorite scent ever is being discontinued so I'm stocking up on that one. Purple Fox is restocking this week but unfortunately, I'll have to sit that one out because I have an appointment that morning.
So without further adieu, here's the empties for the month -
Be My Valentine
Berry bellini holiday drink of raspberry, red currant, coconut, pink sugar, blood orange and strawberry.
Tart raspberries and currants but I swear there's a peach note in here. That's probably the orange and coconut combo, but it comes across peachy. I liked this one a lot more in the warmer than on cold sniff. Moderate throw.
Champagne Rose Parade
Bubbling champagne infused + Ro's Jelly (soft floral blend with rose petals and a touch of vanilla)
Sugared rose petals and sweet vanilla with just the teensiest touch of fizz. Moderate throw.
Blonde Moment (iced champagne + rich raspberry & cranberry) + fresh picked strawberry
Smells just like grape jelly. Moderate throw.
Goodnight Moon (x4)
Lavender + Sinus Relief
This is mislabeled as Love Like Ghosts but it's really Goodnight Moon. Some lavender but almost entirely Vick's. Light throw.
Mahogany Cotton (x2)
Clean cotton, coconut, oakmoss, vanilla and mahogany.
A sweet, powdery, clean white scent with just a hint of mahogany for depth. Very light throw.
Sweet vanilla with a burnt plastic aroma. Very light throw.
White sand, cool salty sea air meet with the fragrances of sandalwood, sparkling pink champagne and wisps of smoke from a crackling bonfire.
Clean ocean breeze and soapy undertones. Very lightly scented in this format so it's hard to pick out all of the notes.
A new favorite wintertime coffee shop treat - warmed coconut milk with two pumps of vanilla syrup, stirred and garnished with a candy cane.
A sharp blast of peppermint on a bed of coconut and sweet vanilla cream. I love these coconut mint blends, and this one will be a reorder.
Buttercream, marshmallow, vanilla ice cream.
Thick buttercream frosting. It's very lightly scented in the shampoo format, and there's a strong 'base' smell.
Almond cake, creamy condensed milk, whipped cream, vanilla extract, strawberry syrup, whispers of sugared lemon and rosewater made with velvety crimson rose petals.
OK, I know I liked this one before, but after wearing it for the past week, I'm changing my mind. It smells like children's Flinstone vitamins. Citrus topnotes, occasionally I can pick out the red rose petals, and a chalky base. This lotion is pretty old and maybe that's why it smells off to my nose so I'll have to try it again sometime in perfume form.
We All Float Down Here
Fresh ocean, shaving cream, sea salt
A smooth but murky aquatic green scent with hints of sea spray freshness. I've been using these Miracle Budders infused with CBD several times a day now and they really help with general aches and pains.
Future Primitive Soap
Juicy notes of raspberry and melon entwine with mango, honeysuckle and jasmine with a base note of Indian oud.
A sweet melon blend with tropical floral accents. I can't figure out what note is responsible but it reminds me of hairspray.
Black Currant Damson Frangipane
Almond frangipane with a crisp pastry crust, deep-filled with tart black currants, ripe damsons, raw sugar and a flaked almond topping.
This one is really pretty and I've been meaning to order a few products in this scent. Thankfully it was included as a free wax melt sample from a recent order. It's a dark but sweet berry jam and I swear there's a floral note in here. Maybe that's because I mistook frangipane for frangipani (aka plumeria). It's a beautifully complex scent with a strong throw, but it faded fast in the warmer.
Sweet sugar plums with mulled wine and spices.
More of a tart red fruity scent, like currants and cranberries. Strong throw with half a cup.
A reviving blend of Egyptian geranium, Spanish rosemary, Indian vetiver, patchouli and cardamom, bitter orange, clary sage and sandalwood accord.
Fresh rosemary and sage with hints of smooth sandalwood. An eye-opening scent that is nice in the morning.
The Wand Maker
Dusty leather-bound spell books, cedarwood countertops dressed with lavender infused beeswax candles and piles of black wand cases...their occupiers awaiting their masters.
On cold sniff this is mostly an icy, medicinal lavender but in the warmer it has this dry, dusty smell. Like stepping into an old attic. I have nothing like this as a wax melt and would totally repurchase. Strong throw.
Haus of Gloi
Soft cream, violets, white amber and a pinch of peppermint.
Sugared violet petals and peppermint. This was a butter bomb from one of their winter releases.
Tahitian vanilla bean, white tea, lavender and peach.
Juicy, sweet peaches and rich vanilla with a touch of white tea to brighten this blend. The lavender pulls through a little when it's on my skin and it's very herbal. Like herbal to the point of smelling like pot. I don't mind though. It's a beautiful peach blend that I look forward to every spring.
Lavender, Sage & Lemongrass
Bulgarian lavender, sage and fresh lemongrass.
More sage with grassy undertones. A strongly scented, 'green' blend that fill the bathroom with a tranquil aroma.
Very sweet and fruity like the Jergen's Cherry Almond lotion.
Different from many of the milky notes that we generally use. This is a fresh milk.
It's more like a creamy, clean white scent. Not really milky.
Orange blossom with a touch of cream.
Sharp citrus topnotes and soft, summery petals.
Fresh roses and sweet vanilla.
Some green notes in this rose, but there is plenty of vanilla sweetness to help round out the sharpness.
L3 Waxy Wonders
1000 Kisses (Lush type) and shave cream.
A clean musk and citrus blend that smells like cologne or after shave. Strong throw.
Blonde Moment, lemon, frosted lime cupcake
Key lime pie with an added citrus kick. There's that curdled dairy note that I've noticed in other key lime scents, but the sharp lemon zest helps mask it. Strong throw.
Gardenia Spin Cycle
Starchy linens but this one has a 'pink' sweetness. Not Aquolina Pink Sugar, but a dainty type of pink. Really pretty and strong throw.
Lunar Eclipse Paradise Reef
Sweet blackberries and florals, maybe a sprig of mint to brighten everything. There's a lot going on here and without a description it's hard to pinpoint any single note. Moderate throw but it burns off fast in the warmer.
Lasting Scent Candles
Blackberry Ren Tea
Deep and darkly blended plums and blackberries steeped in black tea.
Sweet, refreshing black tea with ripe plums and an occasional whiff of lemon. Strong throw.
Cherry Cider Muffins
Fluffy muffins covered in our house-blended cherry cider and sprinkled with sugar.
A cup of warm, heavily spiced apple cider with cherry-covered breakfast pastries. Very strong throw.
Fresh minty air with notes of juniper berry, eucalyptus leaves and sage.
I thought I read somewhere that this is a B&BW Sweater Weather dupe. It smells of sweet juniper and chilly spearmint. More of a winter scent but fresh enough for year-round. Strong throw with a half cup.
Our comforting lavender scent beautifully blended with crushed patchouli leaves with a hint of sandalwood, sweet neroli and woods with a touch of agave nectar and orange blossom.
I only smell patchouli in the warmer. The base is somewhat sticky sweet, almost like honey, but patchouli is the only thing that really stands out. Light throw.
This is a straight-up blend of invigorating peppermint and our signature soothing lavender.
Equal parts peppermint and sweet lavender. Moderate throw.
Pink Marshmallow Shortbread
Our fantastic Pink Sugar fragrance mixed with sweet toasted marshmallow cream and buttery baked shortbread with a little magic added.
An equal mix of Pink Sugar and sweet bakery on cold but it's all toasted marshmallow in the warmer. I believe this is her Toasted Embers scent which is supposed to be a Marshmallow Fireside dupe. Light throw that lasted less than 4 hours.
Pink Sugar Buns
Our secret recipe of Pink Sugar and the delicious aroma of walking into your favorite local bakery.
Fried donuts with sugar sprinkled on top. The Pink Sugar is strong on cold sniff but not really present once the warmer is fired up. Moderate throw lasting half the day.
Our beloved, colorful sunrise mix of citrusy satsumas and oranges, tropical guava and sweet strawberries.
Smells like satsuma and pineapple juice, but together it combines to smell sort of like tangerines. Love this one. Strong throw.
Just like a fresh strawberry with a touch of green stem.
Sort of tart, sort of sweet with a green freshness. It's almost realistic but there's a small plasticky note mixed in. Moderate throw.
Notes of Pink Sugar, lavender and sticky sweet marshmallow.
Not a sweet marshmallow but more of a toasted one that smells like burnt plastic mixed with hints of soothing lavender. No Pink Sugar that I could smell. Moderate throw.
An ultra buttery, rich cake with some almond extract. This is a bath truffle that left a faint scent and plenty of moisture with just a fourth of a piece.
Various woodland accords, Yuletide spices, vetiver and Douglas fir essential oil.
Spicy hot cinnamon contrast with icy fir and alluring woodsy notes. Like melting a cinnamon candle in a winter forest. I don't know if anyone actually does that, but there you have it lol
Lavender & Vanilla Bourbon
Lavender essential oil and deliciously boozy vanilla.
Freshly picked herbal lavender with the tiniest twist of mint that dries down into a sugary vanilla. This one is great for bedtime.
Sweet Violet Nectar
Violet mixed with vanilla sugary musk.
One of the sweetest fragrances I have. Mostly sugared vanilla beans with powdery violets mixed in. Did I say sweet? It's like a bag of white sugar.
Scoopable Tart Wax
Cool Water type
A refreshing, spicy lavender and amber fragrance. Contains a blend of lavender, jasmine, oakmoss, musk and sandalwood.
A dupe of the men's cologne. Predominantly a sharp bergamot with clean musk. Very brisk and refreshing. Moderate throw.
Oatmeal Raisin Monster
Monster Cookie (notes of brown sugar, butter, Madagascar vanilla and spices) blended with oatmeal raisin cookie.
Yeasty, warm bread fresh from the oven and sharp cinnamon. Moderate throw but it burns off fast in the warmer.
Almond, rose, yellow cake, tonka bean, coconut, ginger and green orange.
My beloved Cameo, the scent I could wear every day for the next 50 years and never tire of it. I imagine this is what the rosewater macarons I tried making a few years ago would smell like had it not gone disastrously wrong lol
Marshmallow cream, violet flowers, vanilla bean, white musk.
My gateway into violet scents, although this is one of a very few that doesn't agree with me. The violets are sweet and very powdery but there's a green note mixed in that adds a subtle bitterness, and the chocolate smells rather chalky. Usually violets smell 'youthful' to me but this one smells 'old.'
Sugar & Spice
Blackberry Coconut Cream Cake
Blackberry, coconut cream pie and birthday cake.
A *very* tart blackberry with just a hint of cake underneath. It has some kind of chemical smell that I noticed on cold sniff, but it's a little less noticeable in the warmer. Strong throw.
Fresh and sweet succulent peaches combined with sparkling notes of lime, lemon, and orange rinds makes this the perfect party drink.
The name is a little confusing because this is a fresh orange blend. I'm not getting the peach or the margarita, but it's still a great citrus scent with a strong throw.
Raspberry Coconut Cream Cake
Raspberry, coconut cream pie and birthday cake.
A tart raspberry with a somewhat soured type of cream note. I mentioned in a recent post that this had a chemical smell and it still does, but it's not as noticeable as it was on cold sniff. Strong throw with half a cup.
Tropical pina colada, juicy pineapple slices, sweet pear and mandarin orange with a base of anise.
A tropical, fruity floral blend with a heavy musk. Like hibiscus blooms and hints of pineapple. It looks like this has been discontinued recently because I just ordered it and now it's gone from the website. Strong throw with a half cup.
Smoky Poppy (Body Shop type) and Celebrate (Lush type).
A spicy, slightly smoky orange blossom scent. Love this one. Super strong throw with one cube.
French baguette, butter brickle and coconut shavings.
Fresh baked bread with a thick maple syrup type of sweetness. Moderate throw. And check out that old school label! This was from her Cheeseball restock back in 2015.
The Bathing Garden
Brown Sugar Cream Rose Bouquet
Whipped buttercream is blended with brown sugar and sprinkled with sugared rose petals.
Pink rose petals with a heaping scoop of brown sugar. The wax has a low to moderate throw.
Bubbling Butter Brew
Sweet clotted cream, salted caramel, rich butterscotch and a touch of bubbling cream soda.
Buttery salted caramel with the faintest touch of cream soda. Low to moderate throw.
Candied Peppermint Petals
Marshmallow peppermint crystallized over sweet rose petals.
Mostly peppermint mixed with lemon and rose petals. Strong throw that lasts all day.
(I couldn't find a description)
Sweet and woodsy cardamom on a creamy base of either coconut or floral vanilla (it's hard to tell what is going on under the spice because it's so strong). Super strong throw.
Caramel coffee is layered under a blend of coconut, vanillas, chocolate and crushed pretzels.
Sort of like walking through the mall. A latte in one hand and a hot pretzel in the other, wandering into the chocolate store to sample a bit of everything. It's mostly a coffee scent but I pick up all the other notes intermittently. Strong throw.
Lavender and lilac are highlighted with a touch of eucalyptus and blended with soft woods, white musk and a sugary vanilla.
A Lush Twilight dupe. Herbal lavender rounded out by smooth sandalwood and hints of creamy lilac. I wasn't fond of this as a wax melt, but the scrub is pretty nice.
Hall of Mirrors
Mounds of sugar, white cake and a hint of strawberry.
Think of a can of pink strawberry flavored frosting. Very rich, creamy and sweet. Moderate throw.
Neroli Orange Blossom
A beautiful true Mediterranean orange blossom.
A good orange blossom without those pesky soapy notes that I sometimes pick up in this particular floral. Sharp citrus topnotes and creamy smooth white petals. Strong throw.
Rose Clay & Shea Butter Soap
Smells of sweet rose, tonka beans and bergamot.
A deep, crimson rose scent. Not a Rose Jam dupe like I had expected. Very pretty scent and her soap bars give off tons of lather and leave my skin squeeky clean.
Rose petals, fresh citrus and touches of strawberry, vanilla and geranium.
Shannon's Lush Rose Jam dupe. Sharp, fresh lemon and sweet rose petals.
Creamy zucchini bread is blended with strawberry jam and sun ripened strawberries with bottom notes of cotton candy and French vanilla.
Lightly-spiced zucchini bread with hints of tart strawberries. Moderate throw.
The Purple Fox
Triple Berry Cheesecake
A blend of raspberry and blackberry jam with a strong cheesecake note. This smells edible and has me craving cheesecake now.
Haus of Gloi
L3 Waxy Wonders
Lasting Scent Candles
Scoopable Tart Wax
Sugar & Spice
The Bathing Garden
The Purple Fox
