Bathing Garden Haul

Disclaimer - all products were purchased by me

Edited 6/3/17

Just a heads up...this is going to be a long post. Longer than I had intended. Originally I was going to do the Wonderland collection separately once I received that order sometime in the next few weeks, but I received a ton of samples in these scents. On top of that, I already had a bunch of these scents from a few years ago so why not do it all now?

So the last order I received from Shannon came late last month. A couple stragglers from the Valentine's collection, a few of the monthly scents, a couple things from the Circus and Spring collections. It's been a while since I did a Bathing Garden review, so this is everything since my last post. I posted about the Circus collection last year along with many of the scents in the Spring Collection, so you can check those out if you need more reviews.

Wonderland Collection

Alice in Lavenderland - French lavender with vanilla extract and marshmallow cream. Purple and white bunny shaped tart. The bottom layer is a strongly scented icy lavender and the top layer is fluffy mallows. The marshmallow is light and I'm having a hard time picking it up on cold sniff, so I imagine this will be all lavender in the warmer.

Caterpillar Mischief - apricot and lemon jam, caramel cake bites and coconut vanilla cream. Shimmery pink egg tart that smells of fluffy lemon cake under a thin layer of apricot glaze. This is really good, and the lemon and apricot compliment one another nicely.

Curiouser and Curiouser - bergamot and lemon combine with hints of soft floral and sweet greens. A beautiful citrus smelling tart. It's mostly bergamot but there is plenty of lemon in there as well with just the lightest trace of floral that is beginning to lean soapy. If you want someone to think you've been cleaning the house all day, pop in a cube of this.

Drink Me - luscious strawberry milkshake, cherry tart and vanilla flowers with a guava cherry tart drizzle. Pink flower tart sample. Juicy, tart cherries blended into a strawberry vanilla milkshake and an added drtop of guava juice. The cherry stands out the most, and it's one of the nicer cherry scents I've tried.

Eat Me - rich and creamy with notes of caramel, custard, cocoa butter, honey, dark chocolate and sweet cream. Brown and beige wax tart. I also have a sugar scrub from a few years ago that smells different from the wax. The older version is a sticky sweet "brown" blend that smells like a mix of caramel and maple syrup. The newer version is mostly milk chocolate with a dribble of caramel and less sweet than before.

Happy Un-Birthday - smells of a rich white birthday cake with mounds of sugary cotton candy icing. It smells different than I remember. It used to be a white cake with thick buttercream frosting but now it's more of a caramelized pecan scent.

It's Always Tea Time - sweet black tea, honey crystals, tart lemon and a drop of cardamom. Now this one has always confused me because it smells of soap, like starchy laundry detergent powder. I literally cannot pick out any of the notes listed.

Keep Your Temper - fresh lemongrass and lemon curd are topped with a layer of marshmallow. White and yellow bunny tart. The top layer is lightly scented with marshmallow fluff while the bottom layer smells of creamy lemon curd with hints of sweet grass.

Knave of Hearts - fresh picked strawberry, 7 layer cake, brown sugar crystals and coconut flakes. Tart strawberries mixed in a brown sugar glaze with a creaminess from the coconut. Mostly a strawberry blend. The newer version is more strawberry and cake.

Lavender Vanilla Custard - a strong lavender is blended with vanilla bean custard with hints of marshmallow and caramel. Purple egg tart. It's the same lavender as Alice, but the thick vanilla custard helps tone down that icy factor. They're pretty similar though.

Looking Glass - a fruity floral delight with cassis, peaches, sugar and musk. Pink glittery bunny tart that leans perfumey. Fuzzy peach and white florals with a heavy white musk. Edit - it just occured to me that this may be Lush Sex Bomb dupe.

Marzipan Poppy Cakes - creamy almond marzipan is swirled with pomegranate, orange and spicy notes of cinnamon and cardamom. Thick almond marzipan paste (is that you, Lush Snowcake?) blended with a trace of cinnamon. Just enough spice to keep this marzipan from being excessively sweet.

Nothing Whatever - earthy wild mint and ivy topped with vanilla cream. Such a pretty green scent. It's sweet and creamy from the vanilla, while also tranquil and soothing from the mint. This is a green mint leaf type of scent, not a chilly, sinus-clearing peppermint extract.

Painting the Roses Red - buttercream frosting and coconut cream pie is layered over a blend of raspberries and roses. Sweet raspberry jam and plush rose petals with the lightest hint of cake frosting. It's heavier on the rose than the raspberry.

Scandalously Talking Flower Bomb - soft milky jasmine, ylang ylang and clary sage. Pink and white flower tart. I want to say this is a Flowerbomb dupe just looking at the name, but it's been a while since I smelled the perfume. It's a creamy white floral, beautifully sweet and powdery, and the sage adds a soft green freshness.

Sea of Tears - sea salt, ocean mists and aquatic floral. Glittery blue tart. My daughter and I were debating on whether this shape is a cake or a hat. Anyway, it's a lovely aquatic that smells of clean sea spray and water lily. It had a very light throw when I had this a few years back so hopefully it will be stronger this time.

Strawberry Nonsense - creamy zucchini bread is blended with strawberry jam and sun-ripened strawberries with bottom notes of cotton candy and French vanilla. Red egg tart that smells mainly of a tart, true strawberry scent with hints of spicy zucchini bread. This one smells a little more tart and lighter on the zucchini bread than the older version I melted last month.

Tea Party with Alice - bottom layer of black lemon tea, topped with strawberry jam and drizzled with sweet honey cream. A tart strawberry and lemon blend with a glass of crisp iced tea. The strawberry and tea stand out the most. An old favorite that I'm happy to see return.

Tea with the Queen of Hearts - the most amazing scent of roobios red tea. Large beige bunny tart. A soothing, mellow tea blend with floral accents. It's a great one to help relax in the evenings.

When Wonderland Dreams - wild berries blend with sugar crystals and powdery white florals for a sleep full of dreams. Sweet raspberry jam and powdery, sugared violet petals. It's different from the original version of this scent from a few years back, but just as dreamy.

Whimsy - bergamot, orange, pineapple and lemon combine with hints of banana and coconut for a bright and tropical smelling tart. Lots of orange, pineapple and sweet banana. It smells just like this juice I buy at the grocery store. Absolutely mouthwatering.

Favorites from this collection are Marzipan Poppy Cakes, Nothing Whatever, Caterpillar Mischief, Whimsy and Drink Me.

Circus Collection

Night at the Circus shaped tart

Big Top Lemonade - sugary tart yellow lemonade is layered with bright pink lemonade. Whether you prefer yellow or pink lemonade, this is the best of both! The bottom layer of regular lemonade starts to give me that sharp, cleaning product feel, but the top pink layer seems to balance it out with the right amount of sweetness.

Fried Candy Donut - berry donuts rolled in fluffy pink cotton candy. In addition to all of the Wonderland samples she sent, Shannon also included this as an extra. It smells just like a warm jelly-filled donut with heavy bakery notes.

Life is a Circus - sugary white birthday cake frosting is layered over blueberries, raspberries, strawberries and blackberries. Thick, sweet vanilla frosting over a dark, tart blend of berries. The blackberry really stands out, but I'm also getting blueberry in there.

Magician's Bonfire - bonfire wisps, lavender and chamomile sugar crystals. Icy, medicinal lavender and herbal chamomile blended with hints of an eery bonfire and crunchy leaves. This is a favorite that I reorder every time it comes around, and the throw is super strong with one cube.

Nights at the Circus - smells of crisp red apples, cinnamon bark, creamy vanilla and honey caramel. Candy-coated red apples and caramel apples combined. I think B&BW Winter Candy Apple is in here somewhere. This is so good that I had to double check my pending order to make sure I ordered more.

Root Beer Funnel Cake - strong root beer, vanilla cream powdered sugar, and funnel cake. It smells just like a glass of cold root beer, complete with a scoop of vanilla ice cream and lots of fizz. There's a smooth, sweet bakery note mixed in, but it's mostly hidden beneath the root beer.

All of these are great along with the entire collection, but Magician's Bonfire and Night at the Circus will be reorders when they come back around.

Scents of the Month

Blackberry Fudge - sweet candied blackberries blended with vanilla brown sugar fudge. February scent. I've been waiting for this one to return for a couple years now. Tart, juicy blackberries blended with a thick, buttery vanilla and small hints of chocolate.

Guava Berry Gelato - guava, raspberry and strawberry iced up into a creamy gelato. No pics of this one because the clamshell is really old, broken and smooshed. I should've grabbed another when it was available. This smells like a strawberry vanilla milkshake with a splash of sweet guava juice.

Rainbow Candy Cream Soda - fruity candy blended with sparkling sweet cream soda. The March scent of the month. Mostly tart but slightly sweet strawberry candies and just a touch of bubbly effervescence.

Sugared Snow Dust -smells of a decadent blend of cotton candy, caramel taffy, vanilla cream soda, cocoa butter, strawberries, and light notes of citrus and musk. December scent. There is a lot going on here, and I'm not sure how to feel about it yet. I get lots of gooey caramel and occasionally strawberry cream with hints of sharp citrus. I plan on melting it this soon so I will give updated thoughts in the monthly round up post.

Shannon's Summer Picks

These were a few of the samples included in this last order to arrive and are part of the new Shannon's Summer Picks collection. I've reviewed most of this collection before, but most of these samples are new to me.

Bee Smitten - sweet lavender, rose, ylang ylang, honey and citrus. Yellow flower tart. Mostly ylang ylang and citrus. It's a nice scent to transition between spring and summer. Sweet and playful, but sultry and hot. I would imagine that this is a Lush dupe of something.

Mid-Summer Song - sugared vanilla, candied lemon and orange and sweet dark berries. Small blue tart that smells like sweet and tangy blue raspberry and a powdery vanilla. It's very similar to her Circus Cake scent but with a bit more zing.

Summer in a Jar - amazingly tart and juicy citrus fruits blend with just a touch of green floral. Small pink tart. This is a returning favorite that is heavy on pineapple (and maybe some orange) with tropical floral accents. The throw is pretty strong.

Summer Melon and Mint - a bowl of cut melon, guava, mango, papaya and strawberries garnished with freshly picked peppermint leaves. Green tart. Mostly peppermint with sweet honeydew melon. I love this one but remember the throw being on the lighter side.

Summer Twilight - creamy vanilla, black fruits, soft musk, lavender, lilac and hints of eucalyptus and woods. Large blue tart. A lavender and sandalwood blend from the Lush Twilight dupe mixed with sweet blue raspberry(?) The lavender and sandalwood are what really jump out. This may be a Comforter and Twilight blend.

Sweet Madi - sweet vanilla blends with succulent, ripe strawberries and the soft floral of violet and jasmine. Large pink tart sample. It's a Lush Rockstar dupe that smells of powdery violets. A little old fashioned smelling, though.

Spring Collection

Bunny Whiskers - candied cherries, confectioners' sugar, marshmallow and tonka bean taffy. Sweet like whoa! Like a jar of maraschino cherries and marshmallow fluff all rolled into one.

Embellish Me - coconut sugar jam layered with crystallized lime lollies. Fluffy vanilla cupcakes topped with lime frosting and coconut flakes. I can't wait to dive into this one, but I think it needs to cure a while longer.

Frolic - blood orange patchouli fizz. Equal parts of sweet, almost effervescent, blood orange with a clean patchouli underneath. A nice citrus blend for the colder months.

Green & Sassy - main notes of lemongrass and citrus blend with hints of sage, vanilla and musk. Lemon and lemon grass with traces of fresh sage in the distance. A relaxing yet uplifting blend with strong throw.

Lacquered Lollipops - black currant, citrus, cyprus, musk and ginger. Dark, smooth berries with a heavy note of clean musk. I want to say this is Lush Comforter mixed with something else (Northern Lights, maybe?), but I'm not 100% certain.

Lemon Cheesecake - delicious cheesecake swirled with tart lemon. The cheesecake note is very subtle, so this is like an ultra creamy lemon curd. Very fresh and tangy, but much more smooth than straight lemon curd.

Marshmallow Frosted Mango Tangerine - mango and tangerine are frosted with yummy marshmallow fluff. Another free sample and a returning favorite of mine. I mostly get the tangerine with the teensiest hint of marshmallow, but the mango gives this one a delicious tropical vibe. I'm still hoping for a sugar scrub so I can literally bathe in this scent.

Ooh La La - vanilla cream, white floral and rich tonka beans. Rich, fatty vanilla and hay-like tonka with traces of jasmine petals. Finally I smell tonka! I have so many blends with that scent and I've never been able to pin it down. Anyways, the wax is a little heavier on the florals than the sugar scrub.

Sweet Green - the smell of a spring meadow with hay, chamomile, sweet grass, beeswax and hints of mint. A soothing spa blend of spearmint and chamomile softened with accents of hay and sweet grass. It's a complex blend that I strongly recommend if you're looking for a green scent.

The Golden Egg - marzipan, cassia, almond and lemon with hints of benzoin and rose candy. Deep, crimson rose petals with the lightest touch of marzipan sweetness. This is a sultry, seductive rose that smells just like the Rose Clay cold process soap on her website. Very pretty.

So many great ones here including others that I reviewed before, but Embellish Me really stands out. I generally avoid lime and coconut blends because they are so overdone, but the vanilla cake note makes this one irresistible.

Valentine's Collection

Kiss Me Silly - red raspberries, cranberries and red currants are blended with hints of apple and rhubarb. An ultra tart blend of raspberry and cranberry with a touch of crisp red apple. A wintery berry blend.

Strawberry Hearts - strawberry cotton candy layered under marshmallow and a drizzle of milk chocolate. Tart strawberries ready to be dipped in a bowl of decadent chocolate mousse. I melted this one already and the throw is a little light.

So that's all I have from The Bathing Garden for a while now. I still have an order coming in a few weeks, but all but two of those scents were reviewed here. I'll probably edit this post to include them once they arrive. The next collection should be coming soon, and it seems like it will be the Take Me to the Sea collection from last summer. I made a post about a lot of those last year if you're interested in reviews.

  3. Love your photos and descriptions. Like you, I am over the moon for Ooh La La. Heck. And about a ton of the others too. Shannon has been knocking them out of the park. I keep kind of hoping for a collection I don't love so I can sit back and ignore it.. but nope. She won't relent. Normally spring is like that for me but she brought on Frolic and Ooh La La and I was sold. And Take Me To The Sea come back? Oh heck yes. One of each pretty please.
